Why every oil boiler replacement in Bridgend starts with a site visit
Updated 1 October 2026 · 2 minute read
If you have had a gas boiler replaced before, you may have been given a price from a few photos. Oil is different. Our team is now registered to work on oil boilers, and every oil job we take on starts with a site visit. This guide explains why, and what we look at when we come out.
An oil boiler is part of a bigger set-up
A gas boiler connects to a meter and a pipe in the street. An oil boiler connects to your own fuel store: a tank in the garden or yard, a supply line running to the house, and the valves and filter along the way. All of that affects the job.
A photo of the boiler tells us almost nothing about the tank, the supply line or how the flue leaves the building. Pricing it blind would mean either guessing high to be safe, or guessing low and having to come back to you with bad news. Neither is fair.
What we look at on the visit
- The boiler itself. Its age, its condition, where it sits, and whether a like-for-like replacement makes sense.
- The flue. Where it runs now, and whether that position still works for a new boiler.
- The tank and supply line. The route the oil takes from the tank to the boiler, and anything we think you should know about before work is booked.
- The heating and hot water system. Whether you have a cylinder, how the heating is controlled, and what the new boiler will need to work with.
Then we price it
Once we have seen everything, we price the job before we start. Nothing is booked until you are happy with it. If something needs doing that you did not expect, you hear about it at this point, not halfway through the install.
